Why Specialty
More than a window — a feature that changes a room.
Some windows do more than let in light. A bay or bow window pushes the wall outward to create a bright nook and a window seat. A sweeping picture window frames a view like artwork. A garden window turns a kitchen sink into a sunny spot for herbs. And a custom arch or half-round in a gable gives a great room its signature line. These are the windows people remember about a house.
Specialty windows are custom by nature, sized and built for the specific opening — which is exactly why the measuring, support, and flashing have to be right. A projecting bay carries real weight and has its own little roof to keep watertight, so proper support and flashing aren’t optional; they’re what keep it level and leak-free for decades.
And you don’t trade efficiency for the drama — these windows use the same Low-E, multi-pane glass as the rest of the home, so a wall of glass still performs in a Carolina summer.

Why Homeowners Choose It
What specialty windows give you
A real focal point
A bay, bow, or arched window becomes the defining feature of a room — the thing guests notice first.
More light & space
Projecting windows physically add space and flood a room with daylight from multiple angles.
A window seat or nook
Bay and bow windows create a built-in nook — a favorite reading spot or a bright bench for plants.
Framed views
A large picture window turns a backyard or tree line into a living piece of art on the wall.
Custom to your home
Sized and shaped for the exact opening, whether it's a gable arch or a curved great-room bow.
Efficient too
The same Low-E, multi-pane glass as our standard windows, so the drama doesn't cost you comfort.
How It's Installed
Five steps, and none of them get skipped.
Fast doesn’t mean rushed. Every step below exists because skipping it is what turns a 30-year exterior into one that leaks, rots, or fails in a couple of seasons.
In-home measure & itemized quote
We walk the home, measure every opening and elevation, and help you choose the right material and color. You get a clear, itemized price before any work begins.
Tear-off & inspection
Old siding or windows come off, and we inspect the sheathing and framing underneath — this is where hidden rot, water damage, and missing house wrap turn up.
Repair & weatherproofing
Rotted sheathing is replaced, then house wrap and flashing go on around every window, door, and seam. This unseen layer is what actually keeps water out for decades.
Precise installation
Siding, windows, and trim are installed level, plumb, and properly fastened with the right expansion allowance — sealed and finished so it performs, not just looks good.
Clean-up & walkthrough
We run a magnet for stray nails, haul off all debris, and walk the finished job with you. The home is left weathertight and tidy at the end of every day.
Specialty Windows FAQ
Common specialty window questions
What's the difference between a bay and a bow window?
Both project outward from the wall to add space and light, but the geometry differs. A bay window is usually three windows — a large center picture window flanked by two angled side windows — creating a defined nook, often with a seat. A bow window uses four or more equal windows in a gentle curve for a softer, rounded look. Bays make a bolder statement and a bench; bows feel more elegant and panoramic. We help you pick based on the room and the look you want.
What specialty and custom shapes can you do?
Beyond bays and bows: large picture windows for unobstructed views, garden windows that project out like a mini-greenhouse over a kitchen sink, and geometric shapes — arches, half-rounds, circles, triangles, and trapezoids — often used above doors or in gables and great rooms. If you can picture it, we can usually source it custom-sized for the opening.
Do bay and bow windows need extra support?
They can, since they project out and carry their own weight plus anything on the seat. Proper installation includes the right support system — cable or knee-brace support and solid flashing at the roof of the projection — so the window stays level and watertight for the long haul. It's a more involved install than a flat window, and doing it correctly is what prevents sagging and leaks down the road.
Are specialty windows energy-efficient too?
Yes — specialty and custom windows use the same Low-E, multi-pane, gas-filled glass packages as our standard windows, so you get the light and the architectural impact without giving up efficiency. Large expanses of glass especially benefit from a good Low-E package to manage heat and glare.
